zionism is racism
This motion is a landmark chance for us to put anti-racism, decolonisation and solidarity with Palestine at the centre of political party policy and to give our elected representatives a clear, principled anti-Zionist line they can defend publicly, without apology.
Let’s send a message parties can’t ignore: members want Motion A105 heard.
Every name matters. The more supporters, the stronger the our unity to bring this into fruition and change the face of Uk politics and beyond.
support Motion A105: Zionism is Racism
from words to action
The motion translates principle into concrete tasks: incorporating its positions into core party policy, international policy, and the Anti‑Racism Platform encouraging comms, leaders, MPs and councillors to actively promote this position.
It commits the party to campaign for the release of Palestinian prisoners of conscience (including Marwan Barghouti), the de‑proscription of Palestine Action, and support for the demands of Prisoners for Palestine in the UK.
It calls on representatives at every level to move motions in their chambers to end investments in Israel, push for accountability and reparations, and help establish full embargoes and BDS, as was done with apartheid South Africa.
WHY this motion matters
- The motion names Zionism for what it is: a racist, settler‑colonial ideology that produces apartheid, and the systematic dispossession and subjugation of Palestinians.
- It is drafted by Palestinian members, in consultation with Global Majority Greens, Muslim and Jewish members, and anti‑Zionist Jewish networks, grounding the policy in lived experience and genuine anti‑racist practice.
- It builds on existing Green policy that already recognises Israel as an apartheid state committing genocide, taking the next necessary step of identifying Zionism itself as the root system that must be opposed and dismantled.
- The motion makes crystal clear that anti‑Zionism is not discriminatory against Jews, and that Jewish identity must never be weaponised to shield a racist state project from accountability.
WHAT THE MOTION ACTUALLY DOES
-Declares the Green Party an explicitly “anti‑Zionist” party and rejects normalisation and denial of Palestinian rights and conflation of Israel with Judaism including through the adoption or use in frameworks of the IHRA and JDA definitions of antisemitism which have been weaponised to silence legitimate criticisms of the actions of the state of Israel. We affirm that definitions of anti-Jewish discrimination should not equate Jewish identity with Zionist ideology or political practice. As with any ethnicity or faith group, no single political ideology should be ascribed to an entire people.
- Affirms support for a single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine with equal rights for all, Jerusalem as its capital, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees and their descendants.
- Demands full embargoes and implementation of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. Reparations for crimes committed against Palestinians.
